Questions to ask before a pawn transaction

Bring a clear list of questions and request the complete written terms from the store.

Ask about the specific item

Describe what you would like to bring and ask about the store’s current requirements. Photos can help start a conversation but do not establish acceptance, value or approval. Explain whether you are asking about a pawn rather than a sale.

Request the full written terms

Before agreeing, ask the store to explain the amount offered, all charges, the relevant dates, how the item can be redeemed and what happens if the terms are not met. Read the actual agreement and ask about anything unclear. This guide does not set rates, deadlines or eligibility.

Keep the records accessible

Keep the agreement and contact information somewhere you can find them. Ask the store how to discuss any later question about your transaction. Do not rely on a website article or an informal estimate in place of your written agreement.
